We've seen all sorts of things being stolen lately. Copper and other metals get turned in at the scrap dealers for cash. Now we hear of Tide being the latest thing being stolen in volume. Yes, Tide, the laundry detergent. Thieves take the bright orange bottles of liquid Tide because they are a known commodities.
Bottles of Tide are sold half price on the street or are exchanged directly for drugs.

That has to be one of the strangest.
Then again, I read that thieves stole a beehive in Houston.

News from a whacky world! Beehive?!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, MC. You'd think the beehive would have it's own built-in alarm system! Apparently it was worth $1000, but how easy is that to sell? At least everyone uses laundry detergent!
ReplyDeleteLately I saw police arrest someone outside a grocery store, who was carrying a large bag packed with cheddar cheese! Apparently this is a high-theft item with a good street value. I can't quite picture how the thieves offload their cheese onto unsuspecting customers?
ReplyDeleteanexactinglife, we live in strange times. I never thought I'd be seeing a black market for basic goods. I'd think the laundry detergent would have a longer shelf life than cheese!
